Ear Surgery
Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, is routinely recommended to correct the shape, proportion and positioning of one's ears. In fact, many candidates for this procedure are children aged five or six, who were born with overly large, protruding, or abnormally shaped ears. Still, adults can also benefit from this surgery, particularly in cases where injury or accident has left one or both ears abnormally shaped.
Results:
Commonly, the results of ear surgery are long-lasting and leave the patient with a new sense of confidence. This thanks to the elimination of a defect the patient perceives to be very noticeable and disfiguring. Hence, the surgeon's goal is to leave the patient with ears that are positioned, proportioned and shaped in perfect synergy with the other features of the face.

Recovery After an Ear Surgery:
Avoid straining, lifting, bending or exertion for up to ten days after surgery, at which point you will likely be told you may resume normal activities. However, a patient's ability to return to work and athletic activities will vary based on the extent of the surgery, and the doctor's instructions should be strictly followed. Otoplasty patients often must wear a bandage around the head to hold the ears in place. Stitches are usually removed within a week, and the bandage may have to be worn for several weeks.
